[music |Gin and Milk - Dirty Pretty Things]

All fun was to be had at the Bluetones gig in sheffield LeadMill, I cannot remember much, I remember seeing the support band and then went and sat down because I had a stomach ache (I tend to get them if I've not had dinner before I go out to a gig) then I had some anadin, which I shouldn't have had because I'd been drinking. Eventually it got better and sat with some people who I hung out with for most of what I can remember. Played tug-of-war with a pice of cotton or something and that led to me getting burn marks on my fingers and a massive cut (I only noticed this the next day)
I can only remember a few songs that the Bluetones played. I have a pretty pink badge to show for my efforts though.

I've managed to get a recording of Dirty Pretty Things song 'gin and milk' it's excellent and I'm really really excited about seeing them in April.

Going out in Doncaster this weekend, fun!!!

[music |Bang Bang, you're Dead - Dirty Pretty Things]

I've not been updated on here for what seems a long time, again. So here are the thingas I've been up to/going to be up to......

*Well the NME awards was very entertaining - The performance of Dirty Pretty Things was really rather good and I'm more excited about seeing them in Preston - in April. One of Alex's work friends went to see them a few days ago and said they were really good, which made me more excited about seeing them.
Arctic Monkeys seemed very drunk as well, which was quite funny to see but Alex was being a bit of an arrogant prick!
Russel Brand wasn't that funny but it was funny seeing the little rift between himself and Mr Geldof.
The Babyshambles performance was strange.
Razorlights new song seemed alright, same old kind of stuff really.

*We're building a shed on Saturday, I say 'we' but I think I might just watch. Basically Alex's housemates (his landlord and landlady) are having a 'Shed building Party' on Saturday to build of all things a shed, so that should be very funny. And it'll involve a bit of alcohol and a barbecue, I hope it doesn't rain, but it probably will.

*I have curly hair again, which looks pretty cool I must admit. Had my photos done for the hair modelling competition and we should find out whether we get through to the L'oreal Colour Awards next phase, where I would be walking down a catwalk, I can't wait for that.

I think it's time we compiled a list, of places where we shouldn't go..... [Feb. 10th, 2006|09:52 am]

Yey!!! Alex got us tickets to see Dirty Pretty Things yesterday. I'm so pleased, we wanted to go to Sheffield but those tickets sold out really very quickly, so we just have to see them in Preston instead. And once I've seen them it means that I've seen all of the previous members of the Libs, just not in the same place of course. But nevermind..
We saw John at Leeds festival and Pete in Blackpool, Sheffield and at Leeds festival. Now we'll see Gary and Carl in Preston. Well I'm excited at this anyway :)

What else is there to say, hmmm, Hull is our next port of call on Saturday when we go and see the Strokes for the second time in about two weeks. They were so good in Doncaster and Alex's friends have two spare tickets for hull so we're going to use them, so that should be really rather good again.

I had my hair done the other day for the L'oreal colour awards. I'm a model for Robert Brannon hairdressers and I'm very excited about it :) so far I've had my hair coloured but they still want to do some more things with the colour, and I had some photos done yesterday and they were very pleased with it all.

All good stuff.

I'm sat in the library at uni at the moment and I'm very sleepy and I have a lecture in about an hour and then I have to go down to Chesterfield on the train to see Alexander, well I won't see him until he finishes work but that's alright.

Love and Sparkles

Oh dear, I've not been on here for quite a long time now, well the beginning of December anyway.

Hope everyone had a really good Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all, it's a bit late to be saying this now, but it's better late than never.
I received lots of lovely presents including the following:
*The full Sex and the City box set with every single series ever :)
*The John Peel book 'Margrave of the Marshes'
* A Time Burton book of short stories entitled 'The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy:and Other Stories'
* A new MP3 player
* Perfume
And lots of other lovely little things, like chocolate, yummy!

So seeing the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand in Denmark was really really fantastic, one of the best gigs I've been to. Myself and Alex danced like fools, I think we were a bit tipsy, hehe.
It was very cold in Denmark but it was a lovely little weekend and we went to a few Irish bars, hmm!!

Off to see the Strokes in Doncaster (of all places) tomorrow evening with Alexander, so I'm looking forward to that loads.

Went to see Babyshambles a couple of weeks ago at the Sheffield Plug, it was a very strange gig. Supporting them were The Holloways and the Tiny Dancers. The Sheffield crowd were very dis-interested in the Tiny Dancers, it took them ages to set up their stuff on the stage and they seemed a bit strange, and nobody seemed to know what was goin on, oh well.

ooooh, I've not updated on here in so long. I've not had much access to the internet lately plus I've been really busy, oh well.

Well in exactly one week I'll be at Manchester Airport waiting for a plane to Copenhagen, yey!!! And it's all the more exciting because Alexander and myself shall be seeing Franz Ferdinand and the Arctic Monkey, yey!! It's going to be great and I'm very very excited about it. Still need to book a hotel though,
hehehe :)

And hopefully in the next few minutes, we'll have booked tickets to go and see the strokes in Hull.

*A night out in Nottingham at the Rescue Rooms or as Alex likes to call it the "Rest Rooms" hehehe
*My sudden decision to have a gap year from uni this year

[music |Strasbourg - The Rakes]

We went to see 'The Rakes' lastnight, they were really really great and Alan Donohoe (lead singer) had some very interesting dance moves, he was quite funny, hehe.
Also present were the band 'Cazels' but we'd already seen them and they sounded much better lastnight actually.
There was a Dominic Masters lookalike hanging around too.

It was very interesting at the student union lastnight, it was appaarently called 'the longest night' there lastnight. And can you believe it that Karl Kennedy from neighbours was there in the actually venue room, which is basically the rubbish area of the student union and he was performing on stage or something. So when me and Alex arrived he was on stage singing 'Let Me Entertain You' hmm please don't do it again Karl Kennedy.
We managed to escape from the venue bit and went to the club bit which was indie night and basically we only went because 'The Rakes' were playing, yey!!

[music |First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes]

I saw the video for this song on VH2 and I thought it was a really cute song :) so I thought I'd put the lyrics down here, I think they're simply great....

..This is the first day of my life
Swear I was born right in the doorway
I went out in the rain, suddenly everything changed
They’re spreading blankets on the beach

Yours was the first face that I saw
I think I was blind before I met you
I don’t know where I am, I don’t know where I’ve been
But I know where I want to go

So I thought I’d let you know
That these things take forever, I especially am slow
But I realized how I need you
And I wondered if I could come home

I remember the time you drove all night
Just to meet me in the morning
And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed
You felt as if you just woke up

And you said, this is the first day of my life
Glad I didn’t die before I met you
Now I don’t care, I could go anywhere with you
And I’d probably be happy

So if you wanna be with me
With these things there’s no telling, we’ll just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery

Besides maybe this time it’s different
I mean, I really think you like me

[music |Apply Some Pressure - Maximo Park]

Well I have just finished a rather very good part autobiography 'Cider With Roadies' by Stuart Maconie, ex NME music journalist/assistant editor. Now a BBC 6 radio presenter.

It's been such a good read, it's very funny and really interesting and makes me want to be a music journalist even more, yey!!!!
